Still Life Shoot – Shape

In order to achieve the photos i have taken in this shoot, I placed the plates on top of the desired colour background and had that all on top of the light box as well as having extra dim lighting. I was able to get the right amount of light to make my pictures clear and clean. I took the photos using different angles, the main one being a birds eye view by standing on a stool, shooting from above. To really capture the key formal element of shape I broke the plate with a hammer and was able to get neat evenly smashed pieces. This mean the shape of the plate wasn’t too small but big enough to focus on in the photo.

I think the shoot went well, to complete the photos i will need to pick the best photos and edit them. Some of the photos I took of the plates separately so would need to be put together. I had a go at having the broken and non broken plates next to each other on top of the right coloured background , I feel this worked also.
